Kai Kotiranta

Kai Kotiranta is one of Finland’s most renowned criminal defense and litigation attorneys.

He specializes in complex white-collar crime cases and commercial disputes. In addition, Kotiranta handles matters related to freedom of speech and expression, as well as demanding property law issues for private individuals. He also serves as an advisor in corporate, securities market, and investment services law, and as an expert in criminal and procedural law.

Kotiranta graduated with a Master of Laws in 1997 and has practiced as an attorney since 2001. He earned his Doctor of Laws degree in 2014. Since 2018, he has served part-time as Professor of Practice in Financial Criminal Law. In 2024, he was awarded the title of Docent in Law (with a specialization in Financial Criminal Law). That same year, the President of Finland awarded Kotiranta the honorary title of laamanni. Kotiranta has held various positions of trust within the Finnish Bar Association. He currently serves as a member of the Disciplinary Board.

Kotiranta has worked in the advocacy since 1997. In 2010, he established his own law firm in Helsinki focusing on his areas of specialization. In 2020, Kotiranta & Co opened a second office in Rovaniemi.
